Oxycodone Addiction Treatment
New Growth Recovery provides compassionate care for oxycodone addiction in Springfield, Massachusetts. Through personalized, holistic treatment, we help individuals overcome dependence and build a strong foundation for lasting recovery.
What Is Oxycodone Addiction?
It is a chronic condition where someone becomes dependent on oxycodone, a prescription opioid used for moderate to severe pain. It’s sold under brand names OxyContin, Percocet, and Roxicodone, and it’s one of the most misused prescription drugs in the U.S.
Like other opioids, it affects the parts of the brain that handle pain and emotion. Along with easing pain, it brings a strong sense of calm, which makes it so easy to abuse. It’s also stronger than codeine or hydrocodone, which raises the risk.
It usually starts with a real prescription after surgery or an injury. Over time, the body needs more to get the same effect, until the brain relies on the drug just to feel normal.
Note that it’s a recognized medical condition, not a lack of willpower. Oxycodone changes how the brain handles reward and self-control, which is why quitting is so hard without professional help.

Oxycodone Addiction Treatment Options in Springfield, MA
There are various oxycodone addiction treatment options available. What suits you best depends on how long the oxycodone abuse has lasted, how severe it is, and any co-occurring factors. At New Growth Recovery, we match the treatment to those needs.
Intensive Outpatient Treatment
Our Intensive Outpatient Program, called Day Treatment at our facility, offers structured care for people who need consistent clinical support but can manage life at home between sessions. During the IOP program, patients attend three to five days a week, totaling nine to twelve hours, usually over six to eight weeks. Sessions run in the morning, afternoon, or evening, in person or virtually, so you can get oxycodone addiction treatment even if you have work, school, and family to attend to. Care includes individual counseling, group therapy, and family programming, with aftercare support to help long-term recovery.
Extended Day Treatment
Extended Day Treatment is our most intensive outpatient option in Springfield, Massachusetts, equivalent to a Partial Hospitalization Program. Patients attend structured programming five to six hours a day, then return home each evening. The focus is on building coping skills and repairing relationships damaged by addiction. Alongside individual and group therapy, the program includes trauma-informed exercises, nature walks, and optional fitness sessions. PHP program is a good choice for people who need daily support but have a stable home to return to.
Online Addiction Treatment
Our online programs offer the same evidence-based care as in-person oxycodone addiction treatment, just remotely. Group sessions, individual therapy, and counseling are all there, and the setting is the only thing that changes. Virtual IOP is the best option for people who can’t easily attend on-site for one reason or another. For many, virtual care is what makes treatment possible at all. Patients can also combine online and in-person sessions or transition between them if needed.
Oxycodone Detox
Recovery from oxycodone addiction starts with detox, which is safely clearing the drug from the body under medical supervision. Opioid withdrawal can be very difficult, even dangerous, so professional support makes the process both safer and more manageable. We don’t provide medical detox in-house. Instead, we place you with trusted local facilities that specialize in supervised withdrawal, and our admissions team handles the arrangements. And once detox is complete, you move directly into our care.
Levels of Oxycodone Rehab Programs
From flexible sessions to structured partial-day care, you’ll get the right intensity with a clear step-down plan.
Extended Day Treatment (PHP)
You’ll attend 5 to 6 hours of care each day, several days per week. Extended Day Treatment includes therapy, family support, and wellness activities like yoga or fitness.
Day Treatment (IOP)
You’ll join three-hour sessions, 3 to 5 days weekly, with flexible scheduling. Day Treatment includes therapy, skills practice, and family involvement to support balance.
Virtual Treatment Program
You can attend groups and individual telehealth sessions online. Online rehab follows the same clinical standards and supports privacy, access, and consistency.
Detox Program
If you need withdrawal support before starting, we coordinate fast medical detox placement with trusted partners. This prevents gaps in care and lowers relapse risk.
Therapy and Counseling
Receive addiction counseling with individual, group, and family therapy using CBT, DBT, and trauma care. Yoga and animal-assisted therapy provide added support.
Aftercare Program
Experience transitional support after your main program ends through our Aftercare Program. This helps you bridge into long-term recovery with continued guidance and resources.
Disclaimer: Due to Massachusetts licensing, New Growth Recovery uses “Extended Day Treatment” and “Day Treatment.” These are comparable to a Partial Hospitalization Program and an Intensive Outpatient Program, respectively.
Oxycodone Addiction Symptoms
- Increasing Dosage. The usual amount stops working, so they take more or take it more often.
- Persistent Cravings. The urge to use comes back on its own, even when there’s no pain to treat.
- Sickness Between Doses. Sweating, aches, chills, or nausea as the drug wears off are signs the body has become dependent.
- Running Out Early. The prescription runs out sooner than it should, followed by pressure on the doctor for more.
- Prescription Shopping. Going to different doctors or pharmacies, or asking friends and family for pills.
- Sedation and Fog. Nodding off mid-conversation, slurred speech, or moving and thinking more slowly than usual.
- Changing How They Take It. Crushing, chewing, or snorting pills to feel the effect faster is a serious warning sign.
- Pulling Away from People. Fewer plans, less contact, and vague answers about where they’ve been.
- Letting Things Slide. Work, appointments, and things at home left undone.
- Using Despite the Damage. Carrying on even when it’s clearly hurting their health, money, or relationships.
Oxycodone Withdrawal Symptoms
- Muscle and Joint Aches. A deep, restless soreness in the body is one of the hardest symptoms.
- Anxiety and Agitation. Feeling jittery and on edge, unable to relax or sit still.
- Nausea and Vomiting. The stomach often turns during withdrawal, which can lead to dehydration.
- Stomach Cramps and Diarrhea. Painful cramping and digestive trouble, especially in the first few days.
- Insomnia. Restless sleep and difficulty falling and staying asleep leave people exhausted when they need rest most.
- Runny Nose and Watery Eyes. Flu-like symptoms that show up early and are typical for opioid withdrawal.
- Yawning. Constant, uncontrollable yawning is a classic sign that withdrawal has started.
- Racing Heart and High Blood Pressure. The pulse speeds up, and blood pressure rises, putting extra strain on the body.
- Strong Cravings. A strong, uncontrollable urge to use hits hard during withdrawal.
When Should You Consider Oxycodone Rehab?
You should do it as soon as possible. Oxycodone addiction rarely eases on its own, and the longer it is left untreated, the harder it becomes to treat. You don’t need to wait until things start to fall apart. If use has started affecting your health, work, or relationships, that’s reason enough to contact our addiction treatment center. The earlier the treatment begins, the better the chances of a full oxycodone recovery.

FAQs About Oxycodone Addiction Treatment
How to Treat Oxycodone Addiction?
Oxycodone addiction treatment is individualized and may include withdrawal management, medications for opioid use disorder, behavioral therapy, counseling, and ongoing recovery support. The appropriate level of care depends on the severity of the addiction, withdrawal risk, co-occurring mental health conditions, and the individual’s circumstances. At New Growth Recovery, treatment can continue through structured outpatient programs after detox or medical stabilization when needed.
What Does Oxycodone Addiction Look Like?
Oxycodone addiction may involve strong cravings, taking more oxycodone than intended, difficulty reducing or stopping use, spending significant time obtaining or using the drug, and continuing to use it despite problems with health, work, or relationships. Some people may also run out of prescriptions early, seek oxycodone from multiple sources, or change how they take the medication.
How Long Does It Take to Develop an Oxycodone Addiction?
There is no set timeline for developing an oxycodone addiction. The risk varies depending on factors such as the dose, frequency and duration of use, whether the medication is taken as prescribed, and individual risk factors. Physical dependence can develop with regular opioid use, but dependence is not the same as addiction. If oxycodone use becomes difficult to control or leads to cravings or continued use despite negative consequences, it may be time to seek a professional evaluation.
When Should You Seek Oxycodone Addiction Treatment?
Professional help should be considered when oxycodone use becomes difficult to control, causes cravings, interferes with daily responsibilities or relationships, or continues despite negative consequences. You do not need to wait for addiction to become severe before requesting an assessment. Earlier evaluation can help determine the appropriate level of care.
Can You Recover From Oxycodone Addiction?
Yes. Oxycodone addiction is treatable, and recovery is possible with appropriate care and ongoing support. Treatment may include behavioral therapy, individual and group counseling, structured addiction treatment programs, and ongoing recovery support. Continuing care and relapse-prevention planning can also help support long-term recovery.
